I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology and the Linguistics Program at Hamilton College, USA. Trained as a linguistic and cultural anthropologist, my research explores the intersection of language ideologies and cultural production across diverse sociocultural contexts.

While much of my work focuses on contemporary Taiwan and its contributions to regional and global soundscapes, I also examine social actions in various settings, including tourism, social media, and liberal arts colleges. My ethnographic research engages with voiceover professionals, souvenir vendors, Formosan elders, second-generation high school students, and college students, among others, to understand how they navigate sociopolitical complexities through the deployment of semiotic resources.
